Clinton: She's In It, To Win It

Sen. Clinton announced this morning on her website that she is joining the presidential race. She proclaimed that she is "in it, to win it." Clinton is planning to come to the Granite State the weekend of Feb. 2nd-4th. Aides in the state are scouting locations for the possible visit. Below is an excerpt from her statement:

"I'm in. And I'm in to win.

Today I am announcing that I will form an exploratory committee to run for president.

And I want you to join me not just for the campaign but for a conversation about the future of our country -- about the bold but practical changes we need to overcome six years of Bush administration failures.

I am going to take this conversation directly to the people of America, and I'm starting by inviting all of you to join me in a series of Web chats over the next few days."

Rudy Signs-Up Carney?

There are rumors that Rudy has signed up David Carney to be a political consultant. This political blog states,

"A few months ago I was tipped that Rudy Giuliani was trying to hire David Carney of Norway Hill Associates as a consultant for Giuliani's fledgling New Hampshire operation.

My post on that may be found here:

Then, a few days ago a friend of mine in Governor Perry's office in Texas told me that Carney was currently setting up meetings between Giuliani's campaign and Perry's '06 campaign staff (Carney is senior political adviser to Rick Perry)."

It might be internet rumors, but Rudy is expanding his NH staff. Here is the complete link to the blog:

Tancredo Visit

Rep. Tom Tancredo will be visiting New Hampshire on Jan. 27th. He will be at the GOP state convention.

McCain's Staffers

Here is a list of John McCain's New Hampshire senior staff:

-Peter Spaulding- chairman
-Steve & Susan Duprey, Chuck Douglas, Jayne Millerick-vice chairs

"The campaign has hired nine staffers and has headquarters space on South Commercial Street in Manchester." Union Leader

Victory NH Endorsing Rudy?

Below is a list of Rudy's senior staff list. This list was in The Union Leader.

-David Tille, state political director
-Jeff Semprini, field director, youth outreach
-Misty Haungs, field director
-Chris Wood, coalitions director

Chris Wood is currently working for Victory New Hampshire. Does this mean that Victory NH is endorsing a Rudy run?? Remember, Rudy's last visit to the state included a Victory NH forum. Moreover, Victory NH is organizing a group to be at the state convention next Saturday. Guess who is speaking at the convention...Rudy.

House GOP Jumping In

Three House GOP members, Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter have all announced they are either forming presidential exploratory committees or have decided to run for president. The only one who can make some serious noise is Tancredo, who will use his immigration bill the cornerstone of his candidacy. The last member of the House to be elected president was Speaker James K. Polk. In case you were wondering, former Oklahoma governor Frank Keating has decided NOT to run for president.

Students For McCain Forms In NH

A Students for McCain group has formed in the state. The group is a national organization that is seeking volunteers in the Granite state. For more information the group, check out there website: http://www.studentsformccain.org/SFM.htm

Obama Forms Exploratory Committee

Illinois Senator Barack Obama has decided to form a presidential exploratory committee. This is an excerpt of his announcement:

"And that's why I wanted to tell you first that I'll be filing papers today to create a presidential exploratory committee. For the next several weeks, I am going to talk with people from around the country, listening and learning more about the challenges we face as a nation, the opportunities that lie before us, and the role that a presidential campaign might play in bringing our country together. And on February 10th, at the end of these decisions and in my home state of Illinois, I'll share my plans with my friends, neighbors and fellow Americans."

A Convenient Mistake?

It may be a convenient mistake, but I noticed the following foul-up on some Google Ads. Here is the ad:

Governor romney
The Exploratory Committee Learn More.
http://www.exploremccain.com/

Notice that it links to the McCain website, yet it is for Romney. A convenient mistake or are the McCain folks already pulling some "Rovesque" campaign tricks. Also, I did not know that Romney was already forfeiting to McCain.

Dodd Weekend Schedule

The Concord Monitor reported some of the stops that Chris Dodd will be making this weekend.

"On Saturday evening, Dodd is scheduled to be at a victory party in Henniker hosted by the New Hampshire Senate District 7 voter alliance, where he'll be the guest of Brenda and Bob MacLellan.

At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dodd will attend an event at Sen. Peter Burling's home in Cornish. Burling has endorsed John Edwards but will host events for other Democrats."

Richardson To Decide

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson told CNN that he will decide by the ending of this month, as to whether or not he will run for president. Rumors are that Richardson will announce on Jan. 22nd that he is running for president. He is coming off some good press he received for visiting Darfur and trying to reach on diplomatic solution to the crisis.

Steele Pays Visit

Former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele is in New Hampshire tonight. He is speaking at a Martin Luther King Jr dinner. Steele lost a senate race to Ben Cardin, last year. His name was mentioned last year as a new RNC chairman, Sen. Mel Martinez eventually took the post.
