Biden's NH Chair Hits Obama Over "Trading Favors" Comment
From The Biden Campaign:
Today, Representative Jim Ryan (D-Franklin), New Hampshire Chairman of the Biden for President campaign issued the following statement in response to Senator Barack Obama's comments regarding "trading favors" for endorsements.
"I am deeply disappointed by the comments of Senator Obama this morning. It does not say a lot for Obama's opinion of New Hampshire officials if he thinks that our endorsements can be bought and sold for 'favors'.
"We take pride in New Hampshire of the fact that we look beyond the hype and the money and really focus on where all the candidates stand on the issues. Our last two Democratic Presidents started off low in the polls, however they won New Hampshire's hearts based on the merits of their ideas.

Hodes Endorses Obama
Today in Concord, freshman Congressman Paul Hodes endorsed Barack Obama. Hodes said that he is endorsing Obama because:
"Barack and I share an optimistic vision for this country and we share the belief that change is possible when people come together. Campaigning across New Hampshire this fall, people told me that they believe this country can be great again—but they know that we need a new kind of politics if we’re going to make progress on the issues that confront us around the world. In Barack Obama, we have a leader who will turn the page on our narrow-minded foreign policy, a leader who will end the war in Iraq and who realizes, just like JFK and Ronald Reagan did, that being a strong nation means having the strength to talk to our enemies."

It's All About The Kids
Some of you might know that I am spending the summer working for a program called Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound. The goal of the program is to "provide low-income students with the skills and motivation needed to succeed in college." I was a student in the program and have spend the last three summers working as a staff member.
This summer I have had the pleasure to work with Victoria Cavanaugh, a recent Boston College graduate. Ms. Cavanaugh has started a program called Nuestro Ahora. The aim of her program is to "provide disadvantaged children in El Salvador with an opportunity to attend an institution of higher education while equipping them with the skills necessary to become engaged citizens."

Clinton Purposes "Green Building Fund"
Photo Is: ©Chris Fitzgerald/CandidatePhotos.com
Today, at the Seacoast Media Group's Presidential Forum, Hillary Clinton purposed a "Green Building Fund." The fund's aim is to make public buildings more energy efficient. The new program would cost $1 billion annually and be distributed to states through grants or low-interest loans. At the event, Hillary said that "Energy efficiency is the cheapest, cleanest, fastest technology we have to cut energy use and reduce emissions. We'll invest $1 billion annually to help states improve energy efficiency in public buildings, cut pollution, combat climate change, and create 50,000 'green collar' jobs. If we do this right, it can be a win, win for our economy and our environment."

Dems, Indies Support Obama at Merrimack Restaurant
Tonight during the CNN/YouTube debate, CNN's Mary Snow hosted a group of 24 Democrats and Independents at the Merrimack Restaurant. Snow reported that:
"We’re here with 24 Democrats, Independents, who thought that Senator Hillary Clinton would be the best performer here tonight, but the results that we just got in, this is a focus group; show that Barack Obama got the most favorable in terms of the best performance from the 24 people who are here tonight"

Edwards Campaign Holds Iraq Forum
Today marked the first of five policy discussions hosted by John Edwards' New Hampshire campaign. The first forum focused on Iraq and was led by "senior foreign policy adviser" Mike Signer. According to a campaign press release Signer said, “Nearly 75% of New Hampshire voters disapprove of the way this President is handling the war in Iraq. Senator Edwards' plan would bring a quick but safe end to the war in a way that protects American troops and our security interests in the region."
Later this week, additional forums will be led by Edwards National Campaign Manager Congressman David Bonior and General Gregory “Speedy” Martin.
