Richardson Promises To Protect Naval Shipyard

During a visit to the Portsmouth Navel Shipyard, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson promised to protect the future of the shipyard. Richardson told workers that, "If I am elected president, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will always be open. I wont even let it on the BRAC list and that's a pledge. That's something I commit right here." Richardson said the shipyard should be kept open because "One is the great working relationship between management and labor and the great safety record this facility has.
