On Eve of NH Trip, DNC Labels Huckabee "Habitual Tax Hiker"

On the day before he begins his trip to New Hampshire, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) released a press release labeling Mike Huckabee a "Habitual Tax Hiker."

The release sent to New Hampshire reporters begins, "In case you're covering Mike Huckabee's trip to New Hampshire today (and the speculation that he might skip the Granite State altogether), here is some BACKGROUND on his love of tax hikes."

"Mike Huckabee loves touting fiscal conservatism on the campaign trail. Well, we’ve got to hand it to the Huckster – he has a lot of guts. Huckabee talks about his thrifty habits while brazenly spending almost $500,000 in taxpayer dollars on his plane and repeatedly raising taxes for families in Arkansas. Huckabee’s sales tax increase and new taxes on gas, and cigarettes have drawn the ire of real fiscal conservatives, earning him a D grade on fiscal policy from the CATO Institute and the label of a “habitual tax hiker” from the Club for Growth.," the release states.

The DNC then lists newspaper articles under two categories, "HUCKABEE: A RHETORICAL CONSERVATIVE" and "VERY, VERY TAXING: HUCKABEE HAS A TAX AND SPEND FEVER."

This is the first e-mail I have received from the DNC against Mike Huckabee. Is the DNC now considering Huckabee a threat or in Drudge's words "a glass-jaw"?

The former Arkansas Governor will be touring the Granite State, with Chuck Norris, over the weekend.
